Electronic Cigarette Benefits

If you smoke tobacco based cigarettes then switching to the electronic version has a number of benefits, the major one being that they are healthier than tobacco based products. Here I’ll just mention what I think are the top benefits of using electronic cigarettes.

Health

Everyone knows that smoking tobacco based cigarettes is a serious health risk, but thousands of people continue to smoke regardless of the dangers, and I was one of them up until the beginning of the year when I discovered the electronic cigarette.

Whilst not 100% healthy, the electronic cigarette removes the dangerous cigarette smoke and it’s associated carcinogens and 400 toxic substances. The electronic cigarette instead produces an odourless water & nicotine vapour that simulates smoke and quickly evaporates away causing no harm to the user or anyone else close by, but at the same delivering the user a nicotine hit that the smoker craves.

No Fire – No Smoke

Unlike tobacco based products electronic cigarettes do not require a naked flame to make them work. Having no burning parts means that electronic cigarettes won’t set fire to your bed or sofa if you accidentally drop it or fall asleep while using it. It also means electronic cigarettes will not produce smoke or ash or even burn down to a stub, so you’ll have no need for foul smelling ashtrays dotted around your house.

The Smoke is the most harmful part of a tobacco cigarette and is a blend of over 400 chemicals, hundreds of which are dangerous and some are even carcinogens. Electronic cigarettes produces no smoke, but instead creates a vapour that contains nicotine to satisfy the users cravings, Once exhaled the vapour quickly evaporates into the air within seconds, leaving behind no visual residue or lingering smells, so your home clothes won’t end up smelling like the in side of an ash tray.

Can Be Used Anywhere

Because electronic cigarettes do not contain any tobacco or produce real smoke they are not controlled by the 2006 Health Act’s smoking ban.

This means they can be legally used in enclosed public spaces such offices bars and restaurants. However it is always a good idea to check with the owner of the establishment first to avoid any unnecessary confusions.

Save Money

With yearly increases in the cost of a packet of cigarettes smoking is now an expensive habit, so switching to an electronic cigarette can save you money over time, as cartridges are cheaper than cigarettes.

How much you will save depends on your smoking habits and which electronic cigarette that you choose to use. For the example below I’ve chosen to use the NICOCIG brand, as that is the one that I used to give up smoking.

For arguments sake we will set the average cost of a pack of 20 tobacco cigarettes at £5.00. 1 cigarette = £5.00 divided by 20 = £0.25

A single pack of 4 nicotine cartridges which is equal to 60 tobacco cigarettes is £4.95. I cigarette equivalent = £4.95 divided by 60 = £0.0825

Cigarettes Smoked In A Day Yearly Cost For Tobacco Cigarettes Yearly Cost For NICOCIG Yearly Saving
5 365 days x £1.25 = £456.25 365 days x £0.42 = £153.30 £302.95
10 365 days x £2.50 = £912.50 365 days x £0.83 = £302.95 £609.55
20 365 days x £5.00 = £18250.00 365 days x £1.65 = £602.25 £17647.75

Obviously there is the cost of the starter kit at about £40 and maybe the odd battery at about £6.00, but even with those costs the electronic cigarette is still cheaper, and even if you were to half the life span of the nicotine cartridges the electronic cigarette is still cheaper, I’ll leave you to do the maths for your particular smoking habit.
